POSITIONS
These are the standard positions within the OxWip committee, and what each person's responsibilities are. Along with their individual duties, each also acts as a standard committee member and a college rep, which means that they help with events, invite speakers and advertise the society.

President
The President of OxWip has a varied and exciting role. She must work closely with the rest of committee to direct the Society: organising events and campaigns, promoting the mentorship scheme and ensuring the Society is well-recognised at the University. The President will be in direct contact with current and future sponsors as well as the local and sometimes national media. The role involves a notable commitment in terms of time and effort, but is very rewarding. Good organisational skills, an understanding of events management and a level of business awareness would be useful.

Vice-President for Undergrads
The VP Undergrads position is one of the most exciting roles on committee. Not only have I helped to organize most of the events this term, but I've had the opportunity to help plan OxWiP's future. The VP works with the president to liaise with the general membership, the committee, and our speakers and sponsors. There are more fixed commitments to this role than most, but they can be easily balanced with coursework. You will be expected to attend all weekly committee meetings and to attend at least one event per week.

Secretary
The Secretary takes minutes at Committee meetings and then sends out a weekly internal email, sends out a weekly newletter to the mailing list and is responsible for registering the Society every term. You need to be pretty organised, and enjoy communicating. In general, the work is more regular than for other Committee postions, as the minutes and newletter are always done following the weekly meeting. This allows her to plan ahead, leaving plenty of time for academic work and other activities.

Treasurer
The treasurer's specific duties include the following: prepare Accounts on a termly basis based on records of income and expenditure; collect entrance and fees at Events (if applicable); banking; reimburse Committee Members for expenses; formulate termly budget; and producing invoices. In terms of time commitment, the reimbursements usually take place during the weekly committee meetings themselves (the treasurer should attend these regularly). Accounts/ banking related work should not take more than 2 hours a week on average, but this may be more at the start of term during society re-registration. The treasurer is also expected to fulfil the normal duties of a committee member, such as organizing and helping out with events.

PR Coordinator
The PR Coordinator markets OxWiP's events; it will be your job to ensure that everyone knows what's going on in the society. As such, responsibilities include: managing the OxWiP Facebook and Twitter accounts: tweeting updates, creating Facebook events, disseminating news, designing posters, flyers, and term cards, organizing OxWiP's presence at the Freshers' Fair and helping to plan OxWiP events. This is an incredibly important job, especially for a still nascent society like OxWiP, and working with the president and VP to define a long-term vision for OxWiP has been an incredible experience.

Webmaster
The webmaster is in charge of the website: making sure that it is up-to-date and professional-looking, and that all information necessary for members is included.
